It's sort of neutral.
Think of it another way. Fish pee. Amino acids (ammonia) are pee. You have a biological filter established to remove pee immediately or you couldn't keep anything in the tank.

G I run 250's also about 9hrs a day,I feed Nori everyday and blender mush once every 3 days I wipe the glass down every weekend mainly to get the purple dots off cause I dont wont them to build up to much on an acrylic tank to hard to get them off safely(scratch). My tank is 24" deep.I have thought about 175s but always find out the par is so low and I change my mind.I also like the MH shimmer I dont think I can live without it.

The shimmer is very cool, but if I could get rid of the heat that the MH add to my house I would. When I get a house one thing I would like to do is vent my MH to the outside, and vent the inside of the stand outside, here in phoenix I don't need the extra heat.

Whiskey thats exactly what I did,my chiller was causing most of the heat so I vented it into the attic wow what a difference it has made.

That's an idea,... I don't have a chiller because of the power it takes and the heat it creates, but if I could vent it to a neighbors apt,...

sorry, for the hijack you all.
interesting idea Casey. i have been toying with this, but not going that far into the Blue.
Casey what is the ration of white VHO's to 20K's? watt for watt is fine.
thanks,
G~

G I run 220 watts of white so about 1/2 wattage compared to 500 watts of blue MH and it gives the tank a nice slight blue look my family likes best

And whaqt doesw all this have to do with my coral getting lighter? LMAO I have 13k megachrome 250 watts se bulb with 150 watts of super actinics and it looks very nice on my tank. I was thinking about getting the 10k ushio but I am happy with the 13k megachrome and stick it out for 6 to 8 months to see what happens.
