why ................

What's the reason we go Bare bottom again? Is it becuse the tanks look alot cleaner or is it healthier for our fish and corals? I hope I made the right choice.

The reason I went BB was to have a cleaner and healthier environment for SPS, get rid of all the algae/algae problems, and allow for more flow without kicking up any sand.

I know I made the right choice

Oh I forgot one thing, simplicity.

I love things to be simple, and if I can get rid of the carbon, phosphate reactor, algae scrubber, refugiam, macro algae, etc,... I will.

Because you were smarter than I was and skipped the gravel, DSB, SSB, and went straight to BB, without all the headaches of emptying your tank and starting over each time!

I was tired of looking at that compost pile under my rocks. And like Wiskey said, simplicity.

I also agree simplicity is key for me also. I love the clean look of the BB and dont miss the "compost pile" at all.

For me, I was tired of trying to vacumm the top layer of sand, without disturbing the sand bed, I had a hard time keeping the sand clean; tired of algie.
I also do not have any sand loving animals in my tank, my sand shifting goby and star fish ate most of my crabs and snails. I consider a waste of money to purchase maintenance animals for the DSB, I prefer to spend my money on animals I actually want to see out on the open. I do not have any animals that require sand.
Since going BB the maintenance has become so simple, see poop, vacum poop. not so easy with sand. i love it.

just remember, I saw a thead on RC once that showed tanks that have been changed from DSB to BB, the before and after pictures more than convince me, the BB look was so much cleaner, no algie, better looking coral, all this was good to convince me to do BB.

Tired of elevated Nitrates and horrible looking SPS! I also wanted a stable reef tank without the need of Calcium reactors and Kalk stirrers. Since going BB, almost 6 months now, my reef has never looked better, and my Calcium and Alk stay NSW levels just dripping Mrs. Wages
