what to keep in frag tank?

So im setting up a frag tank with only egg crate no substrate. What are the main things to have to keep detritus and algae in control? i was thinking assorted snails, serpent star, but no hermits bc it would be hard for them to maneuver thru it... any other inverts to help control excess food and algae? o yea tank is too small for a yellow tang... its only 7"H, 35"L, 20"D...egg crate about .5" raised from bottom... and should i keep any in the sump/fuge? have alot of live rock, mangroves, and a good bubble trap with foam pads inserted to block any critters from getting into return pump area... thanks for any help guys.

Just good flow and you should not have much detritus settling

I will give my same answer as on Reefbuilders...

I keep assorted snails and I think I have a hermit running around in one as well, I also happen to have a clownfish in mine, (more of a prison sentence) was mean to some fish. I also keep Peppermint shrimp in mine to help control the Glass Anenomes, I do need to either keep more snails or better ones for cleaning the detrius. I left my bare bottom with moveable shelves so it is easy to vacumn, granted it's been running for 6+ months and I haven't done it yet, every now and then I just take a turkey baster and blast the bottom to suspend the junk and let it filter down to the sump. I am not sure if this system is tied to a display or not but mine is.

Oh and here was my first answer just looking at the title...FRAGS
