What to do now?

When I took all the sand out of my tank I tought that was all I needed to do, never "cook" my rock but in my cramp appartment this is out of the question (my wife will kill me if I make a mess in the place, it is already too crowded). So what could I do to stop the rock from sheeding all that crap?

Just take it out and dunk/swish it in a rubbermaid once a week. Maybe do it in the tub.

You cant really do anything to stop the shedding.

Get a TON of flow. Maybe a pressure rated pump with an eductor or two and a few Tunze Streams

Your going to experience shedding for 2-3 months. Do LOTS of water changes also! I wouldn't plan on keeping any not-so-hardy livestock till the shedding stops, thats just me though.

I am hopping to finish my closed loop this weekend, I am using a mag5 for this, I think I would end up with at least 400gph.
I will swish my rock this weekend also.

LOL He has a 20 gallon, an eductor would push the water right out and onto the floor. I run 2 in my 280!

It will get better, just keep up with your siphoning. I was not able to cook all my rock either, so I have the same deal. Make sure you have a good set up like a python or something for siphioning. If you make it easy you'll do it more often.

Ooww man, I was already searching the web for this eductor. It looks like I will be getting a Bakpack skimmer from a buddy of mine, this should be better than the crappy seaclone I have now.

LL
The Bak Pak should skim that size tank nicely. I would also add a couple MJ 1200's (295 gph) on a cheap wave timer if it were me. You would have one hot 20g set up!

I did get my closed loop done this weekend. Works nicely, definatly more flow and more surface movement also. Ended up doin a T with a hose coupler an the outlet and continue the other side of the T with a spray bar with 3 holes parallel to the surface, 2 at 90º from that (pointing straight down, and 2 more at 45º from parallel.
I also improve my seaclone skimmer; I put it in the garbage can.
