if i remember correctly - what is sold as a 6000 is actually a 6100 with the smaller transformer . i think if you look on the back of what was sold to you as a 6000 it will say 6100 . then yes all you will need is the larger transformer ,you won't have to change out the control module . i think i paid $70 for one .

If the pump is clean, yes you can swap 6000 transformers with 6100 transformers all you wish. I do that fairly often. I have one 6000 transformer and a whole bunch of 6100s. They are all interchangeable.

The caveat about having a clean pump...

The 6100s will drive the prop at a faster speed than the 6000 transformers will. If the pump is a bit dirty, the little blue box may squeal at you because it can't spin the prop as fast as it wants.
