Update as well.

Tank is still making a huge turnaround. Corals have colored up and are growing? Coraline is growing more nad even noiced soem dark red coraline on some of the rock. The long polyped millie was showing no polyp extension and was pale adn now is purple again and has sprouted about 4 new branches. The bali slimer has regained its green. The blue tort is not as blue yet but its dark blue with light bluish/purple tips. The pink stylo is turning red again. Even the green w/pink tipped frogspawn has regained all its colors.

Can someone explain how chnaging the MH bulb from a Phoenix 14K to a 10K XM would make such a turnaround in a month and a half? NOTHING else changed including my husbandry. CA reactor is still running the same, Kalk reactor running for all top off - same. MH is on for 4 hours a day and the VHO's for 6. I still may try adding another hour of MH to see if it makes a difference.

Pics will come when I get back from Florida next week - my camera is already down there.

Sounds great. I'd stock up on XM 10k's and enjoy the tank.

So can you change your avatar to say something other than no reef tank now??

Congrats!!! The 10k bulbs have more of a light the corals need for growth and so on then the 14k . The 14k have more of what we like as in the blue tent to admire our reef tanks.

Also how old were those 14k MH bulbs you had? They could have been on their last leg when you got the new 10K?

It's great news that your tank is turning around for the better. I guess that you've found what actually works, so far, for your tank. Now give us the pictures ******.

I'm glad your tank is getting better. Perhaps the actual bulb you had was bad and not all 14K Phoenix's. Perhaps your corals DID need more light. I've also read the BB needs less light stuff but who knows, everyone's tank is different. Just be glad you know what works best for YOUR tank.
