I liked the look of the board, but I also like the look of the mirrored bottom. The reason I removed it was the detrius that came out when I powerheaded the edges. There was so much stuff that came out I just figured I was creating a detrius sandbed under the board...so before I went there I got rid of it...for me it was right, others maybe don't have this problem so maybe its not a big deal. The rocks will be placed on pvc rounds and then attached to each other via
acrylic rods to prevent them from toppling (don't want any broken glass) although the glass is thick and I can't imagine it breaking, but there is always Murphys' Law. One thing that showed today that was not there with the board is the trail of white (mucus?) left by the snails. They make tracts on the bottom glass, funny not on the glass tank walls...it is easily removed, but wasn't expecting it. For me that's not a big deal, I daily use magnets anyway. There was also a tremendous amount of calcification on the glass bottom under the board. (so that's where all the Kalk was going!) Took alot of scraping to get it all up, but its gone now, time will tell what happens next, but so far so good.
