That is a very nice setup, with plenty of space to work, I would love to have something like that. The doors to hide it all is very slick too, keeps dust and dirt from the garage out.
Great work,
Whiskey

thanks whiskey ! its amazing how all that space runs out so quickly ! i got most of the baffles in tonight and got lots of the plexi rough cut for the surface skimmer . by the time i get the auto top-off in the cabinet all the room is gone , and i still have to figure out where to put the catch can for the skimmer .
i am really thinking that if i can get the sump done before this weekend , i think i might replumb the current tank to the new sumps and get it running . my thinking is i can work out any minor details before i get the new tank in , and when it does come time to put it in , it will just be a matter of some minor replumbing and feeding of some wires . this should really cut the down time greatly !

you got that right !
didn't get around to posting pics yesterday as i promised , hope no one lost sleep over it ! things have been running pretty good over the last 24 hrs ( knock on wood ! ) , a few small things to work out and getting the uv plumbed in .
this pic is of the set-up without the a.t.o. in place . keep in mind the plumbing from the pump to the wall is only temporary till the 180 gets done .

with the a.t.o. in place . now before anyone gets crazy here with the a.t.o. above the sumps thinking that it will siphon once its turned on "don't worry " ! the small hose goes into the 1/2" pipe located at the rear , it is stuck in about an inch or so , enough to keep it from popping out , so the line is really above the sump . the larger pipe acts more as a funnel so when the water stops theres a big air gap .
also i installed the white plastic screens on the lids as to try and keep bugs from just " accidently" falling in !

these next few pics should dispell any ideas that a straight thru skimmer design won't work . it in fact works very well ! this is a good pic too show were the water level is at . its about an inch and a half from the top .

Great work! Is this sump hooked to a tank at the moment? Or just hooked to itself to test for leaks?
How does that autotopoff work? Is that something where you set the drip rate? Or is there a float valve of some type?
Great pics!
Whiskey

Wow, that looks awesome! Your setup looks very clean and neat, and the skimmer appears to be doing a fantastic job! Very impressive.
