and then,.... What did you find out????

I had a list of Spanky's suggested reading that took me 2 months to get through. I came out with a profound understanding of why.

I am still trying to figure out how

basically the stuff in the stickies, sean wasn't always around to condense everything into ledgible and sensible digests. there also we not "methods" or set techniques, simply a bunch of science which went completely over everyones head (except for the 2 or 3 scientist guys that hang out in ttt. i consider myself lucky for making it through the transition without nuking everything, folks now have it a lot easier with guides and people who have experience learning about what not to do... how to wet skim, the importance of clean filter socks, that really 20 times turnover isn't as absurd as the lfs owners suggest it may be (what is now a low volume), that snails are your friends, etc.

of course the beer made me forget most of it, so i then had to go and read it all over again

I don't know about misconceptions, but the #1 question people ask when they see my tank (many experienced reefers included):

"what's the white thing on the bottom?"

hahah! i've never had anyone ask what the starboard is. Its amazing at how many people still think you MUST have sand in a tank.

OMG, look! There is a land where we can be free, free to run our bare bottoms without ridicule and shame.

LOL Thanks for getting this forum going.
