i know this might look a little cheesy , but its supposed to be the home for the eels , which they must not like the color because they go nowhere near it !

Wow! Never thought the paper would look like sand, but it does look like sand. That may be a better option than the FSB is....

I'm digging all the fish. I wish my tank would house some of the larger surgeonfish.

thanks everyone !
heres from the great concept - but didn't work file .
this was supposed to be a large partical settling area , problem was that even with the 2 two inch bulkheads it could not drain out fast enough for the hammerhead pump . i think this thing would work great on say 1500 or less gph .
you can see in the second pic how it was to be set up . it was to sit on top of the ato and drian straight to the sock . there was a drain valve on the bottom to drain out the collected sediments .

this is what the sock box looks like dry. the purpose behind the sealed box is to allow the water to flow out one opening which happens to be where my pick ups for the skimmer are . while the skimmer doesn't pick up one hundred percent of the water coming out , the out flow from it gets funneled right back into the box to be sucked back in or make its way with rest of the out going water .

Looks very nice.

The sediment settling tank. Did you ever try it with a slower flow? From reading on TRT and talking to Geoff at the picnic, the slower the flow through a settling tank the better the results would be. Give it more time to actually settle. That may be why you think it would work better with a <1500 gph pump.

exactly randy , i just had to much flow going thru it . i would have needed something twice the size . kind of stinks since i put so much work into getting the reverse pyramid in . oh well ! i'll just sell it at the lfs garage sale.
