Tank help

Hello,
I was hoping to get everyone out theres suggestions on my next tank choice. I will be getting a 120(48x24x24) I can't decide if acrylic or glass would be a better choice. I am a little worried about having my halides over the acrylic. any suggestions would be appreciated, and also, any resources to finding a company I can trust with an acrylic tank would helpful also.
Thanks,
Ian

I wouldn't worry about MH over acrilic one bit, Clockwork has 5 250W MH over an acrilic tank, and he runns them only 6 inches high without trouble.

I however do prefer glass, acrilic is way to easy to scratch for me, it wouldn't last a day in my house. You really shouldn't use a MagFloat with acrilic for that reason, and I am way to lazy to give up my MagFloat.

Yah well, I have news for anyone who is thinking about starphire, it too scractches pretty **** easily...I think its a softer glass, at least in my experience. My mag float cause a ton of scratches on my starphire tank.

For that reason, I use nothing but the kent pro scraper.

For a 120 though, I'd go glass.....I dont think I'd consider acrylic until I got up to a 200+ gal tank.

Ya, we have an auto-censer that cuts out cuss words, I think all of them are in the list (even the more mundane ones). There are ways to get past it, but this is a family sight

LOL... didn't realize we have kids doing reefs these days

Didn't even realiz dam- is considered a cuss word...Why is America so censored and uptight, unlike Europe? It has always puzzled me... but that's another thread.. dont wanna jack this one

So to put it back on course... glass for tanks up to 180, and then I'd strongly start lookin into acrylic. That's just my opinion, I suppose glass tanks in the 200s are also ok.. I just know what a pain my 180 was to move around, and eventhough you only move it once or twice in your life, for larger tanks I'd have to say acrylic is much safer.

Just remember if you get starphire glass, it will scratch, and will scratch pretty easily at that. I already have a little nick on my new 180, and I dont even remember putting a rock anywhere near it.
