suggestions for my 2 gallon bb tank

very recently i setup my first bb tank (actually my first reef tank, my first nano tank, and my first bb tank; i am used to larger predator setups).

i hated always having crud on my sand, so decided to do away with it.

now that i have a barebottom tank, it seems like the detritus is piling up, and i'm not quit sure of the best way to get it out.

being a 2 gallon tank, space is precious, and a powerhead in there is not an option i already have lots of flow, but it is coming from the top, and not getting under the rocks nearly well enough to keep anything suspended.

i have a skimmer sitting around (aquaC remora), but the odds of that going back in are slim to none.

i figured my options are
1) get critters to feast down there (added 2 bluelegs/1nass today), or
2) stir it up and siphon it out, as i do huge changes (50% change weekly)

any suggestions woudl be appreciated, new to the bb setup and want to maximize its efficacy /minimize algae (the entire reason i'm bb now..

The idea behind a BB tank is to remove the deatris before critters get it, without a skimmer a BB tank is worse off than a DSB tank because it does not have a place to store the deatris. Critters crap too, so having them eat it won't do much good .

If you are looking for suggestions, I would reccomend a small closed loop (since space is limited) and a sump that can contain your skimmer.

OR since you have a 2 gallon tank (I assume fishless and not fead) 90-100% weekly water changes, while syphoning the bottom is a viable option, eventually with no food being added the rock will stop sheading and you will not have this problem.

Whiskey

Welcome to TRT!!!

what Whiskey said. taking the CLS a little further. you could drill the tank and add the outlet under the LR in the places where the detritus builds up the quickest. this should keep it in suspension untill so the skimmer can get more of it.

Welcome to TRT, and if by any chance you're thinking 3 is a charm, I agree with Wiskey and Geoff.
