Thanks Mike. That is a good read. I will try this treatment if I can get the drug from my vet.

"The most effective antibiotic against the organism that causes RTN is chloramphenicol (CAM, CMP.) This antibiotic is available through vets. It is presribed for non food producing animals such as dogs and cats. It is the ONLY antibiotic tested which displayed significant inhibition against the organisms cultured from dying corals."

I'd wait for further info from some of the expert's here. I've heard argument's about this because these bacteria are also found on living corals. And that the article is 10 years old and this isn't a wide spread cure.

I've had the exact same thing happen to my monti's, and I had some nice big colonies that I grew out. I lost most of them. I switched tank's shortly after it started to happen. It really is a bummer because these are some easy to grow coral's, you wonder what the heck is wrong that I cant even keep a monti alive. It does get better though, I've got a staghorn monti that you can see growth by the day now.

I've heard really bad things about this "treatment" I can't remember specifics now, but do a lot of research before attempting this.

IMHO,
Whiskey

Wow, it is an old article. Everything else looks great - the expensive ones at least
