It totally depends on how much algae your tank has to deal with and im not sure we DID cover the ratio on this thread. Im not betting my life or anything, but im pretty sure its better to have more astreas to ceriths as the major benefit to ceriths is to process astrea poop. I run about 30 astreas and 10 ceriths in my 225, but the rock was cooked for 3 m onths and its still too early to tell if they are going to starve as it is.
In my 80 that has been established i run roughly 30 astreas to 15 ceriths and they are doing a fine job. I dont keep any crabs. So the total number depends on the system and the amount of algae that exists and continues to get fed in the first place.
The guy who first posted the clear directions at TRT on how to cook rock at the sticky at the top of this page agrees as well as most of the BB guys at that "other" site.

But again, i think that there is play with any set ratio or number when we are talking bout very different environments from tank to tank. The 2 to 1 ratio is what i use and it works. BUT, i dont have a whole lot of algae in the first place. In my 80 ssb that used to be my display, i used to have more snails but they starved.
