that is exactly how i plan on doing it. they are basically the same mechanically.

Your PM box is full over on that other site.

I set my Bullet 3 so there's no dry foam and bubbles pop right at the top of the skimmer neck. Looks similar to what your's is set at.

I've had it set that way for a year. It seems to do what I want it to do. It keeps the water so nutrient poor the only two algae types that grow are rhodophytes and dictyota (both of which are rapidly being decimated by a very hungry Virgatus rabbit).

Very nice NoShwag, is that a bullet 3 or a bullet 2? Weatherman, what size tank do you have the bullet 3 on?

Thanks,
Whiskey

It's on my 120 (my sps tank). It's being driven by a little Iwaki MD40-RLT.

Do you feel that the bullet 3 is needed for a 120? Or do you feel that the bullet 2 with the same pump would do the job? (the iwaki MD40-RLT is the pump usually reccomended for the bullet 2)

Thanks,
Whiskey

A Bullet 2 with an Iwaki 40 would, probably, be plenty for a 120. After all, I have a little, itty-bitty EuroReef ES5-3 on my 180, and it does a good job.

I, actually, bought the Bullet 3 with the intention of moving it from my 120 to my 180, after I removed all the sand in my 180 (almost a year ago). But, both the EuroReef and the Bullet have done such a good job where they are, I've just left them there.

Good to know, because I am going to get a bullet 2 with a panworld 150, and hopefully by the end of the year I will be upgrading to a 58, or a 90, or a 120 (I haven't decided yet). I wanted to be sure I was getting the right skimmer.

Thanks,
Whiskey

Yeah wiskey mine is a mr2 with a 1" straight into the becket, the becket raised up about 6 inches, and a carbon air filter. I run it on a pcx-55 on it.

The bullet 3 is the becket skimmer with the least amount of reduction between the bottom and the top riser and I hear thats key along with reaction chamber box size. My next skimmer will most likely be a bullet 3.

Whiskey before you make your final decision you should call the manufactures of the mr2 and bullet2 and find out the dimensions of both.. reaction box size, first riser height/width, second riser height/width and total height.

Now schawaggy, how could a Bullet 3 work for both of us when your tank is only a little bitty 120? I wish the XL series had the box!
