Thats a really cool set up~!
I don't think the G6 is a bad skimmer at all. I just think a beckett may be better for BB tanks. May being the key word, I've only owned needle wheels so I can't say for sure. What would be really cool is a moderately sized beckett and a moderatley sized needle wheel on the same tank. The needle could skim dry and the beckett wet.

I have been able to skim my recirc needle wheel wet as can be if when I want to. However I do have to agree that a beckett may be better in that area.

I have a question, it looks like there are a number of bolts on the skimmer cup lid of the bullet 2, do you really have to take a bunch of thumscrews out to clean you skimmer cup?
Thanks,
Whiskey

I'll post pics and video of the new injector tomorrow, its bad arse... It literally takes 2 seconds to open up and pull out the beckett, no fiddling required.
I have video of it opening too, its quick
I'll get some video of my skimmer pumping away tomorrow night, I need to clean it first so you can actually see whats going on in there =D LOL

My skimmer accepts that challenge.
She may look small in the pic but that is a 12" diameter body with two modified Eheim 1262's (900 gph each) sitting there.

Where can I buy tickets? I say put it on Pay Per View.
On a serious note, what kind of flow through rate do you have on that thing Sean? And do the bubbles stay where they are in the picture? Due to my fluted uplift tube I need to run them at about half way up the uplift tube and wait for the foam to push up or I get a waterfall. Do yours run over in that fashion?
Thanks,
Whiskey

About 1,100 gph through it.
I don't get overflows.
I found that as time went by and my system became more stable the skimmer produces pretty much the same at all times.
Now if I were to introduce an epoxy or something oily it will changes its pattern for awhile.

Seant why are you running that much through your skimmer? Recircs are from my experience more efficient with a lower GPH to provide as much contact time as possible. Enlighten me. I currently run about 350 through my 8 inch body with two sedra 5000

Let me know if that'll pull up.
And for 2 videos, not sure how they are but its of me taking the top of the injector off to pull out the beckett, at first it requires a little bit of muscle but thats because its machined pvc plastic, the more you work with it the easier it is, PM also reiterates this in their info packet that comes with the injector.
I'll post a movie later.

With more contact time a skimmer will pull out more DOM's becuase it gives things more time to break down in the tank. Thats why you get more darker skimmate with dwell time and slow flow thru sump.

just build your own.
it is all about the dwell time. i need to do some experiments with these recirc skimmers. these just do not seem like a good idea to me, as they are. it is all about dwell time, but dwell time in skimmers is associated with water velocity in the skimmer. if the velocity is fast enough in the skimmer than it does not matter how long the DOC is attached to the bubble it may never be able to get to the top to be removed. with all of that recircing going on, it may actually be lessening the efficiency of the skimmer. has anybody ever tried running one without the recirc pumps on? with the increased diameter of the skimmer body with the significantly lowered water velocity in the skimmer i would think that it would be able to skimm even more DOC's out. the amount of water processed should remain the same.

I misthought before I typed.
I am putting 800 gph through it.
I put that much through it because that is what is recommended by the manufacturer.
