Polypropylene insted of Starboard?

I just aquired (for free) a 1/2 inch thick 4*10 foot sheet of Polypropylene and I would like to use it on the bottom of the next tank I setup to protect the glass. Do you think it would work? Work and not kill my coral that is

More info, this plastic is recycle number 5, used in most rubbermaid, deli soup, syrum and yogurt containers, straws and other clouded plastic containers including baby bottles.

Since the FDA has approved its use in baby bottles, my guess is that it's ok.

Although, I think I read, recently, that it's difficult to cut without it melting.

That was high density stuff. Apperently this is regular density or something, anyway it is not called HDPE.

Ahh, this is why it is not HDPE
Polypropylene (PP), a polymer prepared catalytically from propylene which differs from HDPE by having an isostatic replacement of a hydrogen atom by a methyl group on alternate carbon atoms in the main chain.

Is it just softer? I cut mine with a jigsaw and a new blade - the fine tooth blade would definitely melt it
