picked-up the 180 today ! ????

well i finally picked up the 180 today (aw my aching back ! ) the tank was actually free since i bought his chiller from him ! but something he wanted to sell me was a sequence reef-flo hammerhead pump for 200 . it was used for only a couple of months , so it was relativly new . but this thing pumps 5200 g.p.h. ! i don;t know if i can use this much flow ! i need to pump thru the chiller , the u.v. , and of course the returns . does it make sense to use a pump that uses 350 watts if i don't need to . i will already be using a mak -5 for the skimmer and it also draws around the same amount of watts ! so would you buy it and use it or pass ?

I wouldn't bother with the Reeflo Hammerhead. It, actually, uses almost 400 watts at 8' head and produces less than 5000 gph at that pressure level. With three 6100 Tunze Streams, I can get around 9,500 gph and only consume about 125 watts.

thanks jack ! its always nice to have a come down back to earth opinion ! i was planning on a couple more tunzes anyways , so no sense in throwing money away for the sack of a good deal ! in fact my initial plan was too add the tunzes and do away with a closed loop as i have'nt found it to be really any better than using good power heads unless you count the leaky c.l. pump as a plus !

Congrats on the tank!!! That is one sweet deal. I too would not go with the dart, Tunze is a better choice IMHO, or a pressure pump on educators.

You nailed that one. Other than the size of the tunzes the power savings can be dramatic.
