One step closer to a proper BB

Just wanted to stop by and show some newly snapped pics of my wannabe BB tank.

It has come a long way as I get closer to true BB theory. A few weeks ago the tank endured a major renovation whereby i removed my soft corals and spread the SPS corals throughout the entire tank. At the same time i redesigned every aspect of the rock work to model those better BB tanks out there. I used rocks with space underneath to allow flow and push detritus out.

This was the tank may 13th: http://www.d3f.org/misc/fish/90g/74-fulltank.jpg

And here it is today (note: in this first picture I cleaned the background up as I havent gotten around to scraping it clean of corraline since I redid the rocks):

O' natural background:

I still have a lot more work to do. I still have plans to replace my skimmer with a larger MRC becket, and to also get some (soon to be in USA) Seio controller's so I can create some better flow patterns.

Rock on BB'ers!

Don't worry; I was previously overcrowded! I then stuck to the same amount of frags when i re-distributed them (see the previous photo in the original post).. and have already told myself I am done (actually, I want an efflo, and have a spot reserved for it, but I cannot find one to buy).

...but boy o' boy is it hard not to overcrowd! I just need to find a way to get these corals to grow 10x overnight

I'm like you, I still have a mix of soft and SPS in my tank. One day I will do a major redo and go straight SPS, but for now, I'm half-butting it.

You have no idea how hard it is not to over-croud. Especially when frags of super cool corals go for $10 at an auction!

On top of that everything/frags of everything, from my 50 went into my 15 when the 50 was having problems.

You want to talk about over crouding!

Maximus on RC is selling frag packs. He has some purple tipped efflo frags if the efflo is all you wanted I'm sure he'd hook you up. The tank looks great.

Paint:

My setup was split for about 10 months; it's nice to just take your time and envision it all. I'm sure like most of us here, we are constantly sitting and enjoying our tanks, but at the same time trying to think what is necessary to improve; for once I feel I no longer have to improve the rock layout and can focus on other items. It's a great feeling.

Whiskey:

Lucky for me, this town has a pretty horrible selection of coral. The vast majority of my corals came from other sources, so it's easier to just "ignore" the local sources and stop buying. I think we're all cursed with being coral pack rats, however. One could easily say "I will just trade current corals for nicer future corals", but we never do, and end up keeping everything!

Humboldt:

O' I need to go run over there. Thanks for the heads up!

Yup and the problem with softies is they are so HARD to remove without pulling the entire rock out. Perhaps when I get some time I'll go through and really do a redo of things....remove all the softies (except maybe mushrooms and zoas) while pulling up my starboard so I don't have the detrius trap under it.

Exactly -- I had to sell an entire rock back to the fish store; had two kenya trees and dozens of wild polyps on it. There was no way I could get them off.

The xenia peels off the rock easily enough, however.
