no coralline?

I've had my 90 gallon BB tank set up for about 6 months now and I have yet to see any spread of coralline algae. The sps have bleached a bit but have encrusted their bases and grown larger. I haven't seen too much algae in the tank either. I have two small fish which I feed every other day. I did notice this weird looking "grey" colored stuff that's on the rocks. Is there such a thing as grey coralline? Any thoughts? I use a two part additive every other day, and no I haven't checked parameters like calcium and alk in a while (I'm ashamed to admit it ).

Check your Mg level also. Ca, Alk, and Mg all go hand in hand.

Other thing you might want to check is your phosphate levels.

If you know anybody that has some, get some scrapping from their tank and dump it in to your tank to help start it.But check all your water perimeters.

Not enough nutrients.

You've got 2 fish in a 90g? Slightly bleached/pastel SPS?

Feed more!

To give you an idea how fast it grows in my tank, here is my brand new white bottom after almost 2 months:

I only use kalkwasser for Alk/Ca.

I've found that you can actually over-light coralline (it grows better in the shade for me), and if your corals are losing color I may assume lack of nutrients in the water. You're likely too clean, and you may consider feeding more. bump it up to once a day for a while and see how that works out.

I'd have to agree with crvz. I've also noticed that most of the coralline that I'm getting are growing underneath the rocks more so than on top of the rocks. Not sure why... but thats what I've noticed in my tank.

Corraline actually doesnt like getting BLASTED by light. It enjoys bright light, but not "right underneath a 10k DE 250w bulb" bright
