In the past I browsed this forum regularly and now agree with some recent comments that there hasn't been much action here lately. Here's our contribution with fairly recent FTS:

Very nice, clean, setup you have there. I like it a lot. What kind of lights are those? They seem to be awfully high above the tank, but yet working fine at the same time.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

JFlip, that would be me.

aquawolf,
They are a specialty metal halide spot light. Very focused with minimal spill...They will be lowered a few inches to get more PAR. Currently they are 4ft from the bottom glass and we are able to get very good coloration on our Acro's.

Here's some other info:

Tank

Our 90 gallon rimless aquarium is made from 1/2″ (13mm) starphire glass, with 1″ (25mm) regular clarity glass for the bottom pane. It measures in at 24″ x 36″ x 24″ (60 x 90 x 60 cm) with a sump of 15g capacity.

Filtration

Flow is provided by a pair of modified Tunze Nanostream 6025’s and an Eheim 1250 return. With head loss the return pump moves ~200gph (760lph). This makes for a very quiet drain and allows for 90% of the water to be directed into our DAS EX-2 protein skimmer. We incorporate a minimal amount of Live Rock, no more than 15 lbs (~0.45kg).

We dose our mixture of carbon sources and BioDigest, which has become known as The Glassbox VSV Method on the boards (Vodka, Sugar, Vinegar). This keeps nutrients low and allows for heavier feedings. For additional supplementation we also dose KZ’s Zeovit line and Aqua Vitro. We also run ROX carbon passively in the sump, which is kneaded on a regular basis to release bacterial “mulm” and remove deposits on the surface of the carbon.

For even more info and images check out our blog (link is in the signature.) If you click on the category "glassbox" it will have all posts regarding this system.

Cheers to the weekend.

Eric

Shucks. I was looking at it day dreaming about one on my 12G nano tank. Sweet setup though.

Hmmm. That's a thought. Wonder what a custom one costs?

Very Nice Eric, I'm a big fan. But I think you already knew that Do you use the basic-4 Zeovit? And/or what else do you use from Zeovit?

( I will take another look at your website so maybe I'll find the answer myself )

I remember we talked about AA addition in combination with addidion with several C-sources on RC a year ago.
What AA combination do you use recently, and how much much do you add?

In my new system I'm thinking about automated adding of C and AA myself. (maybe combined with some sort of very fine crustaceans-mix)

Hi Leonardo,

We currently dose a mixture of C source with amino/vitamin supplement, Potassium Iodide, and KZ's Coral Snow. We supplement with Prodibio BioDigest as well. People on the Boards have begun calling it glassbox-design VSV. Here's a write up on it:

http://glassbox-design.com/2008/achi...perimentation/

Quite a few have tried this method with good results. Currently we dose 1ml of an ethanol and sugar combination. We just ran out of acetate

The DIY AA's was just too messy and too much work for the minimal amount of water volume we have. It's much easier just to buy a pre-made mixture.

Wow That's clean! How long has this been set up? There's not a spec of coraline algae. How do you keep it off the glass? You can hardly tell there's water in there.
