In a sense...the only thing that malfunctioned was me. The short story is I left town for a five days and didnt cover my bases well enough in the middle of a heat wave.
Restocking begins next week.
Im over it and moving forward. To be honest, Im rather enjoying shopping for new corals and looking forward to what will be showing up next week, even though it kinda hurts.

ok...an update. Tonight i finally got around to doing the couple plumbi9ng tweaks i wanted to do with the coast to coast overflow, and I reaquascaped. I wanted to lengthen the rods in back so it is a completely hollow reef, making even better flow throughout than i had before. It was good before, but now not only will I have to never siphon the floor like always, i think i will even have to blow off the rocks less.
Ive already started restocking the 225......have about 50 frags in there and did a total reaquascape there......but being as this is the BB forum...you guys dont care about that tank....lol
here is what it looked like when i took the rock out
here you can see where i really staggered the rods to be high towards the back for my hollow reef plan.........note the tomini bottom right. Hes one of my favorite fish now.....the lone survivor in this tank between all the corals and fish, survived 100 degrees seemingly unphased
And the rock i put back in. There will be some tweaking when i start adding frags next week...i have some tonga branch that i like to make pedistals out of and there will be some moving around here and there but the base is more or less as it will be.
oh...also, tomorrow will be getting a replacement scribbled rabbitfish and a niger trigger for this tank.

Scribbled rabbit and niger in....the rabbitfish is hiding......the trigger is all over the place...including chasing the tomini around It seems harmess at this point...lets hope it stays that way

No pictures of the frags at the moment.............they are all in the big tank with all the dirty nasty sand anyway...........Ill be stockiong this tank with corals next week.
And yes the trigger is in my sps tank. Niger triggers and bluethroats are reefsafe. Or at least are reefsafe according to many people. I had a bluethroat in here before the crash. Unfortunately he wasnt in here very long before the crash. But he never bothered anything.

Niger triggers won't bother corals, but I think they have some tendancy to pester snails/crabs (well, really any sessile invert) as they mature. Bluethroats, and all those in the Xanthicthys genus, are less likely to do the same, as they typically eat from the water column, as opposed to surfing around the substrate for a meal.
But that being said, many folks have kept those triggers in reef tanks, and I imagine you'll have great success! What's a couple extra bucks in snails if it comes to it, anyway?

Thanks Viv.
I just wanted to add that this trigger is AWESOME!! I like him way more than the bluethroat i had. He is out and about all over the place and will already come up to me and eat out of tweezers. I dont trust him enough yet to let him eat out of my hand......but that will come. He is still harassing the tomini a little, but no damage....just mild harassment and all seems well
