When you had the issue with the rowa, how much did you attempt to use?

two tablespoons MAYBE.......rinsed well and ran through a canister filter....i even ran ten gallons out through it that i dumped before allowing it to filter the tank water.......i was safe as i could be
It was the first time eveer using it in my BB tanbk but i have used it often in the past with no issues on my dsb tanks. Makes me wonder though if it wasnt all that great of a thing to begin with.......

Two tablespoons?! Thats it??
Man!! I've got a reactor en route (cheaper than buying a whole new skimmer to actually deal with what I think might be phosphate issues), so I was trying to guage how much to use, but that's pretty ridiculous.

I have used reactors often in my dsb tanks in the past with ten times that much in them. NO issues.
?? There may have been other compromising factors that allowed the iron to burn, but just the same, i have no doubt it was the iron that did it. Again, makes me wonder how unhealthy it was in the dsb tank as well, but it wasnt apparent as the sandbed absorbed the majority
Ive heard spanky say in the past, "pick your poison" in concern to both aluminum and iron based phosphate removers..........i didnt take him all that seriously at the time.........i DO now ; )
