Thanx Medic Mike! You can do this also Just study the Japanese BB tanks, and try to put that (aquascaping)philosophy in your tank.
Gwaco, I have this image in the back of my head... An open tank, minimalistic. I want that staghorns to be wall-to-wall. So no place for other corals
What do you mean by filling it up? More rockwork and/or more coral? I'm curious
Of coarse there will be more corals. For example, tomorrow I will pick up a Favia coral, in a perfect round globe-shape.
BTW, I'm still a student, so I don't have thousands of dollars... But even if I had, I would do it the same way! :P

Since the Acanthurus decided to jump out of the tank ( ), there is only one fish left: A Salarias Fasciatus (lawnmower) Besides that I have a lot of snails. But no shrimps etc.
Tomorrow I will buy a couple of peppermint shrimp, to get rid of some aptaisia. I'm actually waiting for my school of Apogons... Hope they arrive soon.
Tonight I'm gonna pick up a Favia-coral, maybe some other corals.

Woh, that is sweet!!!! I love that look! It's the same sort of thing I always wanted to do, but could never make it work.
Great job!

Love you tank, but, what happened to the Staghorn forest?? That table& mille could take up a lot of space. Not that I have anything against milles, probably my favorite acro. Either way, I'm sure you didn't get ugly pieces. Let's see-em!!

It's exactly what I was trying to do, but I never could, I don't know why but I have a few theories for the next time I try.
My tank is much different now, some know, but those who don't venture out of this forum much probably don't.
Congrats on the new corals!
Can't wait for pics!

I'm curious //;i just meant its so hard not to look at some open areas and think to yourself , " man that piece i saw at the l.f.s. would look soooo sweet in that spot ! " as tom petty once sang "the waiting is the hardest part " i have already found myself deveating from my plan ! just a teeny weeny bit though ! but the stag garden WILL NOT ! be changed ! make sure to keep us updated ! with pics of course !

rutz81: The staghorn-forest will remain. With this amount of rock I have sooo much space, I have room for some more corals.
Wiskey: I'm gonna look into your tank, I'm curious what the current situation is!
Gwaco: I always say, plans are always developing That's another way to look at it
I know what you mean, I bought 3 corals yesterday, wasn't the plan!
Stag-gardens are beautiful, I also wouldn't change it if I was you.
I also made some pics of the 3 new corals. I have to aquascape a bit, so the new FTS will follow later.
- Favia
- "Table" Acropora
- A. Millepora
The colors are are not so well showed on the pics
I added also a picture of my Hydnopora Frag...

Your corals look great!! Especially that brain, it's mesmorizing for some reason, if I see one of those around here I think I will have to pick it up.

Updates... Hmm, lets see
I have bought a 400 Watt MH, but I'm not sure if I will use it. I can return it to the previous owner, so that is not an issue.
I would like some input:
32" x 32" x 22" Cube = 92 Gallon
Current situation: 250 Watt MH + 100 Watt T5
Possibility: 400 Watt MH + 100 Watt T5
Will this be an overkill, or could it be a nice upgrade? In other words, will it be an improvement? Please your thoughts on this issue!
-----------
KH was 4 today. Kalkwasser is not enough anymore. The corals have good PE and growth, but this situation has to stop.
I will go with the Balling Method. This is a method to add several solutions to higher Calcium, KH and Magnesium automatically by a Dosing pump (Grotecht TECIII) Maybe some of you know the Balling-Method.
This stuff will be ordered in Germany, so I hope I can install it within 2 weeks.
-----------
About the fishes... I HAVE to add some fish, my corals are begging me for it.
The Apogons Parvulus are very hard to ship, so it can take months... I don't think I can wait that long, so maybe I "just" go with the "ordinairy" apogon leptacanthus Time will tell...
Anyhow, there will be a Apogon school in my tank before Jan. 2007
-----------
I will make new pictures when the Balling-setup is installed. I can show some growth then, maybe some new fish or corals
Thanks for showing interest Carbon!

I sold my calcium reactor in favor of a similar method, though I'm just dosing by hand. Calcium chloride, baking soda, and a mix of magnesium sulfate and magnesium chloride. I've had the best growth in this tank with this method.
Will you be using NaCl free salt ? I hear that's popular in europe.

Yes, I will be using it to maintain the ionic balance. Of course it has to be a small amount of NaCl-free salt, waterchange etc. is done with "regular" salt.
It is important to do this if you have to dose in large amounts.
Any input about my lighting options?
