The blender mush that is used there;
1 tablespoon Fructose
5 mussels
5 clams
5 oysters
5 shrimp
250mL of RO water
The mixture will be 260-270 ml totally.
Freeze it. Add 5 ml of this mixture every 3 days. In time this amount can be build up.
Shut the skimmer off for some time while feeding.
----------------------------
So you can calculate the amount of Fructose from this recipe
Internet tells me that 1 tablesoon of sugar is 15 gram. So, they dose 0,28 grams Fructose/per 100 gallon, every 3 days.

Get ready for some crappy pictures, but I hope you get the idea. I bought 3 large frags yesterday. About 6" tall. The colours of the turqoise/blue don't come out on the pictures
The green Formosa is damaged during transportation, but it will grow back (at least, I hope so)
Also I made a new picture of my Mille.

Very nice!! I'm impressed.
I also agree, at 6" it's not a frag anymore

Thanks guys! Ok, they are not really frags, but next to my other colony they look a bit like frags.
The blue staghorns (which is not really Formosa I think ) can colour op to light blue, I hope they will...
To make a nice FTS I have to borrow a good camera again. So that can take some days. First I have to give them a nice place to grow!

Wow, impressive! What are you using to take the place of HGH? Your tank has looked real nice from the beginning...are you changing forms? I thought you were doing a Japanese tank?

I'm still looking for that Japanese style, don't you think it looks like one anymore?
I always have these tanks in the back of my mind:
I don't use HGH. HGH seems to split into Amino Acids in Seawater, so the right AA will do the job, it seems...
I don't use any of that method at the moment. I only use Amino Acids (salifert) to give my tank some more nutrients. The corals have much better colour and PE now...
I hope that in the future my (greater) bioload will do the job (mostly).
But I think it's always interesting to seek for improvements in husbandry etc.

Here is a link to a local (local for me) Forum that deals specifically with sugar in the reef aquaria, first hand experience. It is 9 pages long.

I didn't mean to suggest anything -your tank is absolutely beautiful I thought you might be changing your mind and doing something else...is it just the feeding practices your changing?

OK, then I misunderstood that Thanks for the compliment btw!
I do think about changing (increase) the feeding practices... But at the same time I don't want to increase the amount of PO4.
with amino's only+Fructose you don't add any Phosphate, and you prevent nitrate by adding Frucose.
So theoraticly you can add tons of direct available Nitrogen and Carbon components to the corals without polluting the water. Im now reasearching if this will work. Maybe I'm just thinking too compliated
Elephen: Thank you very much for that link, I have a lot to read this evening

No problem. Lots of good first hand experience with dosing sugar and good info from Randy Holmes Farley on RC regarding it.

What salt will you switch to? Oceanic has high Ca levels. I like a 50:50 mix with IO for ca at around 450, 75:25 Oceanic would get you to 500

Oceanic is not available over here in Europe. IO is too low in magnesium, and the Alk is too high.
Tropic marine is used by most of the experienced reefers here, but b/c I don't have a Calciumreactor I have to add too much Ca and Mg, I will switch.
I will try Korallenzucht Reefers Best salt now. The experiences are very good with this salt. Don't know if it is available in the US yet.
