i think having reef "clubs" will ruin the friendlyness of TRT. those "clubs" that you mentioned as examples are all arbitrary clubs anybody can join them as long as they are either femal, male or just has a name that begins with a J sound. nothing crazy or esoteric about it. if we all start dividing up among reef lines than TRT will just become another "click" board and new members will not feel the friendliness that TRT is all about.

what made you all come here to see what TRT is about? just something to think about.

G~
Hmm, you may have a point Geoff, the thought behind it was that the way you setup a tank for DSB is diffrent than the way you set up a tank for BB. What is helpfull in one type, could be a very wrong thing to do in the other.

Take skimmers for example, in a DSB you want to take the very surface of the water, put it directally into the skimmer, and have a 2-3 min dwell in the skimmer itself to remove all organics, plus you skim dry. In a BB you want to take as much water as possible and jam it through the skimmer as fast as possible to remove particulates, which requires skimming wet.

In a DSB you want diffrent flow paterns, diffrent amounts of flow, and a very diffrent clean up crew, you don't want to syphon anything, or disturb the sand, but in a BB you want to desturb everything blast LR and syphon you glass/starboard. DSB's almost require a fuge, I know I loved mine and would never set up a sand bed tank without one, but in a BB a fuge is just another place to trap deatris.

It might make it easer to get accurate advice if we knew where the person was comming from when asking for assistance, but then you are right it may form clicks also.

What does everyone else think?

Awaiting opinions,
Whiskey

Very true.

I don't see the harm in having a BB logo. It's not like you would need a substrate sample to use it!

Just my $.02.
Why do we need a logo?
We already hang out here.

We don't really want to create a divisveness that was found on a certain other board between BB and DSB reefers do we?

Very true, I just thought it would be neat. Perhaps a vote, everyone chime in with a simple yes or no. There are no dues!

Why not just a simple signature line, something subtle?

I am going to start calling my tank a "hybrid" Tank instead of a BB tank. reason being as it just like a car, more efficient, cleaner and better for the enviornment.

Ya, I don't think most people are in favor of this, oh well. I have my sig line,

offical member of the "old man" club.
It is in reference to Bomber (Spanky's alter ego) saying something like "could be old man", I thought it was funny, so I put it in my sig.

What do you mean by a hybred tank? Please explain your plan.

Thanks,
Whiskey

I agree with geoff on this one guys,
if you set up a logo that shows you are a BB cluber and that you know and can give the best advice because you are a bb person? but htan again that is why there is a BB forum area that people can ask... either that or we pay sean way too much........
