you could always redesign the sump so that it has a sloped bottom. put a drain at the lowest point. use the sump like a settling tank. a twist of a valve and the detritus is gone.

I did something similar to that.
Though not cloped I put a valve on the left side near the bottom of the front pane.
So when I do water changes I can use a small powerhead to push any detritus towards the drain and have it sucked out.

Now that is a good idea! Any idea how to do it on a glass tank?

just put in another bottom. cut a piece of glass to fit and silly cone it in. use the same size glass that the bottom is made out of. you can build supports under it if you want just to be sure. really depends on how much water your sump is going to hold.

how? brace it with an acrylic rack if you are really worried about it.

another thing to try. move the skimmer inlet to where all of the detritus is gathering. it is the skimmer that you want to remove it anyway. slope the sump bottom towards the skimmer inlet. there are a lot of options out there. just cause manufacturers have not caught up does not mean it can not be done.

If you do that make usre it is supported under the glass and water tight for sure.
Imagine having to look at all that trapped detritus day after day.

Try US Plastics - www.usplastics.com

Link for a 2 gallon bucket, they also have a 3.5 gallon. If that isn't what you are looking for they have to have something that will work.
