Help me plan my tank

I just got a 55gal recently and I need some input. It will be BB, I build an egg crate terrace for the LR so it is not on the bottom and all the junk goes directly to the bottom and is already working. I will be getting a mag7 for the return, I figure maybe 450gph return. I also have a quietone pump rated at 1300gph for a closed loop, plan on having 4 outlets so it will be around 300gph on each. It will probably have 2 outlets on the back and one on each side of the tank on which I want to add a couple of the eductors Geof made a while back. I realise they will not increase a lot because of the pump I am using but I will be happy with any increase.
So, the 1300gph will give me around 23x turnover, plus what I can get from the return.
Sounds good so far?

If this is to be a SPS tank I would definitally add a few seio's. For comparison I have a Seio 1500, Seio 820, and Seio 620 plus mag 7 return in a 50 gallon (48*12*18 tall).

I really want to keep powerheads out of the tank.
You have about 53x turnover. Is this your tank with the T5 you wrote about on the other thread? Does everything get blown away?

66.8X turnover I understand that you want to keep powerheads out of the tank, but I think your SPS would like the flow, I know there are places in my tank where I could use more. If you want to see flow, check out Clockwork's 180, he is around 130X if memory serves.

What do you mean about everything getting blown away?

This is the tank in the T5 thread.

In my tank the fish love it, they have learned to camp in front of the Seio's and wait for food to get blasted at them.

Clockwork posted a vid of his 120 a while back (it had 114X) and his fish seemed plenty fine with it.

I agree fish love alot of flow. I have just over 100 turn, with a pair of true perc's, a six line wrasse and a lawnmower blenny.

I would do some serious thinking on the placement of the CLS. If that's all you're going to use you need to have it just right so the waste actually get's to the overflow. Otherwise it will just blow around the tank.

I recommend a Tunze stream if you have to use a powerhead. I had a seio 2600 and it killed alot of thing's in my tank. A conch, countless snail's and a few hermit's and a large BTA. Since switching to Tunze nothing has died. You may not have that problem with the smaller models though.

How did this happened? did they get stock on the inlet?

I actually got a quietone 4000 for the return now and the quietone 5000 for the CLS, I am considering the extra seio. Thanks for the help.

Just the shell's did on the snail's. The actual snail part got sucked right out. The anemone got sucked right through. The inlet opening's are too big.

On my 120 (4x2x2) I have...

Closed Loop 1 - Sequence Dart with 4 x 1" returns
Closed Loop 2 - Pan World 250-PS (pressure rated) powering 2 x 3/4" penductors
2 x Tunze Stream 6100 on 7095 MC
Mag 9 for return

Total flow = unknown but its a ton. I'd guestimate 14,500 gph ~ 120x

I have a blue hippo tang, a chevron tang, a flame angel, a female lyretail anthias, a false perc and a fire clown. SPS only in the tank, a few zoo's.

Luey: Like Wiskey said, if this is going to be an SPS tank, I'd really consider a bunch more flow. I think having a lot of flow in my tank has really made a big difference. Don't know if you already got your CL pump, but, you could get a bigger pump so you could try and keep powerheads out. Especially being that oyu're gonna have 4 outlets; after head loss you're gonna barely feel the flow coming out of them.

I already have the cls pump, it is a quietone5000 (1300gph)I had it already, I think I will only have 3 outlets since I found a PVC in form of a cross, this will save some work on my part. Also, I will make a couple of eductors to help with flow. I have been looking at the Seios on e-bay but at this point they are not really a priority; I have to finish the canopy for the lights.

I heard Tunze is comming out with compact PH, one of them pushing around 600gph, if I get 2 of these or 2 Seio 620, would that be good?
