here's some of my skimmate.

When I dump just this much down the toilet, I have the spray ozium, and I can still smell it a while later. My girl thinks I drop bombs.

It is far to early for skimate pictures :P . Put a little bleach in your waist colector, that will make the skimate smell better.

NoSchwag,... Since you are here. When I upgrade toward the end of this year, I plan to have a GenX 55 return through 2 penductors so I can skim almost all the water overflowed. How did you make the syphon break on yours so it doesn't drain your main tank when power goes out?

Thanks,
Whiskey

A very small hole on the first piece of the loc-line.

I point the hole towards the surface so I can see if it's clogged or not.

Have you ever had it clog? How small of a hole?

Thanks,
Whiskey

It's always a good idea to clean out any siphon breaks as a regular part of tank maintenance. If you've ever had an overflow, you know what I mean. They will get clogged.

I actually use three 1/8" holes that radiate around the pipe just under the water level in the tank. And yes, I did have an overflow once. Once.
The amount of flow lost to the end of the pipe(s) is very negligible.

I GOT MY SKIMMER TODAY, This thing RULES, pictures just don't do it justice, It's a beast, I think it just may skim my fish right out!

I am quite satasfied with the construction and quality of this skimmer, and can't wait to get it hooked up, but sadly 12 hour days seem destoned to push that off until this weekend.

One really sweet feature is the key-holed screw holes, so you just have to back the screws off a turn or two and turn and lift the various bits. This is a GREAT idea, I was dreading unscrewing all those screws all the way to clean this skimmer, now I realise I don't have to. Maybe I am out of the loop a bit, but that is the first time I have seen this.

Anyone have any tuning tips for me?

NoSchwag, What mods did you do (I think you rased your injector and something else?) and how did you make your carbon filter?

Thanks,
Whiskey

Thank-you jeffie!

I decided sleep is for wimps, and hooked up my skimmer tonight! The problem is that I am not sure a 10 gallon sump will cut it. I have a huge microbuble problem, and I don't know what to do about it.

Any ideas?

Could you use somekind of a very fine filter bag or something on the output to try and break down the bubbles?

Right now I am doing something like that, I put a filter cartrige (kinda like a filter sock) on my return pump (mag7) but I would really like to not have to use that, because it collects deatris insted of letting the skimmer get it.

For now I will have to clean it out dailey, but eventually I would like to come up with a better sulution.

Thanks,
Whiskey
