I got my skimmer from MRC..
I don't really have to fiddle with it but I do. If I feed or stick my hands in the tank, the bubbles go down so I play with it. But, If I keep the neck clean by wiping it down every 2 days, the level goes back to exactly where I set it.

Would you get the ozone injection port installed just in case you ever decide to use it?
Most importantly how often do you have to adjust your skimmer? Does it perty much stay set, or do you have to adjust it every day?
Thanks,

The MRC 3 is only $89 more, why not get that and have alot more inches?

I have a quick disconnect on my large MRC skimmer and I like it. You don't have to crank it down to tighten it (just snug it) and it comes off very easily.
I have gotten all of my MRC equipment straight from Andy. I believe prices are pretty much the same anywhere for his stuff, so why not go straight to Andy.
Ozone port? I don't know, but in the future if you wanna run it, it should be very simple to mod it to accept it. Don't know what the charge is for so don't know if it's worth it to you to get it now or not. Your call on that one.
1 or 2 becketts? If you only get 1, have him drill it for 2 and just cap the other. If your handy and don't mind drilling it yourself later on, save the expense of having it done now. Very easy to install one yourself, but you'll have to buy a bulkhead and some weldon to install it, so it may be more cost effective to just have Andy do it. I went from a MR-2 with a single injector to a custom recir. skimmer (much larger) with dual becketts, so not sure how the smaller skimmers perform with dual becketts.
Once it's set, you shouldn't have to tinker with it at all really, as long as your using a good pressure pump and cleaning the neck regularly. You'll know when the becketts need cleaning because the performance will drop off (usually meaning something is clogging an injector).
Upgradability is a nice option and the support from Andy is excellent (best i've ever dealt with).

Here is a pic running wet. Pulls about 3/4 gallon a day.
I never have to adjust mine just set it and forget it.
Excuse the clutter around it.

I don't want to get that rediculus. I am going to be upgrading to a 125, or a 120 gallon tank, and I still want to be able to put this under the stand.
Thanks,
Whiskey

I think you are right, I could upgrade to the ozone injector later if I ever want to run ozone (I don't think I ever will, I like UV).
The drilling for duel bekett option now comes stock (you don't pay extra for the hole), so if I ever want to buy another injecter I can have 2 of them. For now I imagine it will just be capped off.
I think I will get the quick disconnect, thanks for the input.

you know all these people having problems with coral bleaching because of low nutreant water, who are fixing the problem by feeding more? If I put that skimmer on my tank I would have to pour in food 24/7, my tank would be on a phospate IV.

Just remember though, MRC is a knock-off of PM, and you get what you pay for... The quality and craftsmanship between PM and MRC is night and day... Trust me Even independent acrylic fabricators are amazed at how cruddy/cheap MRC skimmers are thrown together.

Really? Well now that is an intresting point, looking at the page it looks like they use the same materials that PM uses, the dementions are the same, and I can only assume it works just as well, but with more options like expandability.
Do you know something I don't?
Everyone weigh in on this please, I only want to buy once (or should I say once again since this will be my 3rd attempt at buying the perfect skimmer )
Thanks,
Whiskey

Wow, making a claim like that, I hope you have something to back that up and this isn't just a chip on your shoulder.
Please elaborate on your comments with specifics.

I had to opportunity to compare Noschwags MR-2 to my Bullet3 side by side, and I have to say I was not blown over by any major differences. Noschwag and I set up my skimmer last night, so maybe after spending some time tinkering on a PM product he can chime in with his thoughts.

I've had an MR-1, MR-2, MR-6 Recir. and a CR-1. All are quality acrylic, none have leaked and all have fine glue joints and never had a problem with any of them. 2 friends have PM skimmers, and although i've never inspected them, they appeared to be of the same quality. If MRC wasn't around, i'd go with PM.
