geez my tank is dirty

Just how dirty does a bare bottom tank have to be to develop hair algae? Well, I think I just figured out the answer to that question. I haven't done a water change in about 6 months, and the tank has really gotten pretty bad. Looks like I have some work to do this weekend.

Let's see some pictures! Did you rely on siphoning as part of your husbandry?

I'm too embaressed to post pics . I siphoned as much of the detritus and algae out as I could and will probably do a water change in between football games tomorrow.

How are the coral doing? Is the HA on all of the ocks or just the stuff on the bottom?

it's mostly oj the bottom and was siphoned out easily. Some of it was on the rocks and I'll probably get an emerald crab to take care
Of it.

dont get a crab to try to get what detritous settles in the rocks

use a handheld MJ 1200. Thats the beauty of BB. Blow that crap out and try to let your skimmer get it for PERMANENT removal. If it settles in the tank siphon it out for PERMANENT removal.

It is somewhat understandable that youlet the tank go a little, after all you have a new child now. We would still like to see the pictures though.
