sorry to here this R.D. . i use a ultra-life float switch on my auto - top off and have worried about the same thing happening . i decided to put it on a timer just in case . i know this doesnt completly prevent an accident from happening but i have it set so when its on i'm "usually" around .

Steve man I got what stuff I thought would make it, but when I got it home, under my lights, they didn't look too good.
There is 1 green acro that might make it.
Also I couldn't find anything big enough to take the ricordia home. If you find something, I'll be more than happy to come scoup it.
Stay tuned for a few pictures.

Every day .
I'm sure if you go FO it will be an amazing display, but I'm sure the reef bug will bite you not too long after that once again.
Cheer up

I made a little progress today. Anything that could live is no longer in the tank. I shut down the closed loop, lights, and wave box. I took out most of the dead corals, sold the ASM and bought a Bullet 3 with a pcx 70 to start cleaning up the toxic soup. I am going to let the tank run like this for a couple months and come up with a game plan in the mean time. I really don't see myself with an SPS tank again. Maybe LPS with ricordia, but who knows at this point.

I completely undertstand and sympathize... I had an almost identical T/O system do exactly what yours did. A few years ago a stuck float valve let the R/O run for a day before I saw the water on the floor.
I'm just trying to get back into the hobby nowafter the last mishap.
The addicition's impossible to break... I'm guessing that buying the new skimmer suggests that the SPS bug has you.

Your right I am going to set up the new skimmer and let the tank cycle for a while. I'll likely go with lps and ricordia with a few hardy sps.
