I don't use just 1 TSP anymore it couldn't keep up, I now use a reactor that I just throw a container in and let it go. I am getting worried now, but better now then after it failes, thanks for the heads up.

I agree with PowerMan, I would hate to see you give up and leave, it hurts now to loose all that work and time, but you can rebuild.

REEFD, you have one of the best looking aquascapes and I am sure it will look great however you choose to stock it.

FWIW I love the medical pumps. From hearing your story I think I will back up the timer with a float switch and go for redundancy.

Condolences,
HFG

This is just messed up!!! I know it's hard to even phatom going on , but it's just part of the experience. I know when Hurricane Jeanne wiped out my tank it was the worst feeling, only thing is i had to watch my fish and corals slowly waste away... You'll be up and running in no time.

I am so sorry this happened. I was actually going to PM you and tell you that you had a beautiful tank.

I have a top off switch from autotopoff.com or something like that and now you have me rethinking my set-up.

Thanks for all the kind words. Noschwag is actually at my house right now removing the clams and a few corals that may make it so I can shut thee tank down for a while and rethink things. I am really stuck with the tank since its part of the house, but I may go the fish only route. The hard part is the fish really became pets, Fredo my PBT was the most beautiful and graceful fish I've ever seen. He was the last fish alive, and to watch him suffer really hurt. If there is any good that can come out of this its this:

Look at your system and ask yourself, what if?

You guys with kalk ato's can a snail or piece or algea cause it to jam up and nuke your tank?

Are there cords and plugs below the water level?

Does your sump get dangerously close to overflowing when the power goes off?

Can your temp probe be pulled from the tank?

I have made a small change to my autotopoff system so it can only add 4 gallons of water in 12 hours no mater what. My evap is about 2 gallons per 24 hours, so it can still keep up, but hopefully 4 gallons over 12 hours (8 gallons over 24) won't be a fast enough change to nuke the tank.

I would hate to see you go FO, you had a spectacular tank, do a major water change, get your perams back in shape and pick up some cheap frags. Most importantly don't give up!
