When i got my E. Crabs i placed them on the sand but they quickly moved to the LR. I have never seen them on the sand again. They are always running the rocks and in between. I would say they are fine.

Like this. The spoon shaped claw's are what you want to make sure they have.

Yes they would be safe for a BB. unfortunately not all are reef safe. I have one in my 120 that is a model citizen. Now I have one in my 40 that got in to a battle with my Harlequin shrimp. He lost his claw and grew one enormous one and then turned crazy. he started eating zoos, acros, fish, and montis.... not to mention my gorgonion. He now resides in the sump but **** he turned into a crazy one.

I agree totally. I've found it is size related. The small ones are fine, but the larger ones start to eat the tip's off of my acro's. I've got one now that is starting to do that. I've had like 5 tip's on my green slimer get clipped off theis week. Luckily they grow back incredibly fast. At that time I just replace them with small ones again.
