Deltec mce600...what do you think for my BB setup?

Hey Now all,

My tank is 36x18x12. Its sumpless so my skimmer selections are limited. Do you think a Deltec hang on mce600 would do the job for succesful barebottom methodology? I know its alot of money but a powerful enough skimmer is the most important thing. I am going to put in two Seio 820's as suggested by wiskey.I have two maxi1200s blowing on the bottom pushing detritus to the front now for siphoning purposes.

thanks all!
Jared

Wow, thats a lot of skimming! The tank is a 35gal? I really have no idea, but thats rated for 120-130 stocked. Lots of skimming! I must be reading this all wrong. I'm from NY also, where's North Tonawanda?

Hey Now Viv,

North Tonawanda is about 20minutes north of Buffalo,NY and just about 10 minutes south of Niagara Falls. Well...as you know barebottom methodolgy calls for a super efficient overrated skimmer so as to pull out as much detritus with wet skim as possible. Heheee...I am thinking this thing would rock on a 30gallon.

Yeah, your not kidding! But I just wonder if a smaller skimmer + a small UV might do better? I really don't know the answer, just thinking.
I'm about 45 min. outside NYC, love your country up there though! We head up to the Sacandaga (which is outside albany) and Lake Placid area when we get spare time. Love those High Peaks-just never enough spare time these days!

I am a really big fan of a huge skimmer, I think this is one area it pays to go big, really big . I have a turbofloater 1000 (rated to 250 gallons) on my 50 gallon, and it is not good enough (won't pull out pertuculate deatris). I am getting my MR-2 Tuesday, I will keep you'all updated on how it goes.

I dont' know anything about the skimmer you are talking about though, so I can't really comment on that.

That skimmer seem's to be designed to make dry foam. It's a very tapered design.
