corals and fish

Somewhere in the back of my head I think I remember either reading or hearing that corals do better in a tank with fish. Is this true? It would seem that if it were true, they would be good to supply ammonia for bacteria to feed on and nutrition in ?poo? At the same time this also seems to be a contradiction to a clean clear tank...does anyone have info on this? Curious...

it all falls back to exporting . you can have 50 fish in a 50 gal. tank "if" you can export the waste . the old one inch per 10 gal is more relavent to other type of set-ups . i have some where around a dozen fish in my 75 gal. well above the "recomended" load .

That's the tough part of keeping a tank. You need extremely clean water ( low DOM ), but at the same time it need's to be loaded with food item's ( high POM ). And do this without fouling the water. This IMO is where BB tank's outshine the other's.
