Both my Maxima and Crocea clams are fine, just don't go too small. Us BB guys tend to skim all the phyto out of the water, which smaller clams need. What kind of clam are you looking at?

My derassa attached to the bare glass and is growing well and always open. My maxima is stuck on a rock and also doing well. In fact I am currently trying to nurse a friend's derassa back to health, and so far so good (knock on wood).

I have 2 Crocea in the rocks and a Giant Squamosa sitting on the HDPE. I fed DTs phyto at first and stopped about a month ago. They look happy. I don't feed anything special for them

super glue Gel a couple of small LR pieces to the outside of the clams shell to keep them upright. did this to my 8" squammie. kept it from rolling around the tank when it would squirt. worked great.

I have had a Deresa in my faux sand BB for over 6 months now.
Bottom center upon purchase (Nov 8th); http://www.d3f.org/misc/fish/90g/40-fulltank.jpg
Same clam May 15; http://www.d3f.org/misc/fish/90g/74-fulltank.jpg
... I'd say that's one happy clam.

It is a kind of Gorgonian.
Has done very well in my tank since I purchased it ( http://www.d3f.org/misc/fish/90g/25-gorgonian.jpg this was back in october when purchased).
The only problem with it is it's height! My tank is 24" tall and it reaches past the power heads! He is very hard to position because of this.
