spot on

Viv, when something is "limiting", think of it as the thing that "limits" it's growth.

I watched a couple of TV shows on the Discovery Channel etc...over the past several weeks that dealt with coral reefs. Both shows pointed out that stony corals derive 90% of their nutrition from their Zooxanthellae. IMO as long as we get a little detritus up in the water column (not difficult in my tank ), and have adequate lighting, then no one should be concerend with these guy's starving.
I agree, but the guys that don't have enough nutrients in their BB systems are starving the zoo........yes? I assumed the bacteria taken in by the corals is nitrate/phos limited & the zoo suffer which causes the coral to bleach.......... or there's not enough zoo in the coral to feed & sustain growth. Or am I way off?

Hi Ed,

I figured I would just point you to one of the older threads in The Think Tank forum that deals with your questions (which are excellent questions BTW and ones that I wish were discussed more on the other boards). Hope this thread has your answers but if not just say so and I'm sure those can be answered too.

I'm not, but it sounds like you have good water without all of the extra expense

I run a filter sock (changed daily) and auto top-off w/ kalk but other than that, I run prety close to the same. My tank is still an infant though.
