Algae in my calcium reactor

For the last 6 weeks or so, I've been cooking my liverock and I've had my calcium reactor turned off because there is some greenish-looking algae in there. That is, if I look at the media it has a greenish tint to it--nothing too nasty.

My question is, should I:
a) just throw the media away and buy some new stuff
b) don't worry about it and bring the reactor back on line
c) 'cook' or otherwise purfy the media and then re-use it
d) something else.

Thanks,
Phil

I would replace the media. Remember CA reactors do add a little phospate to your system, not enough to worry about but some (all media has a little in it, there is no getting away from that). That is probably why you got the algae, try to keep the reactor in a place that does not get any light, or put a black blanket over it, to avoid this in the future.

I agree if it is turned off . get rid of it, You will have some nasty smelly stuff in it anerobic Dang I don't know how to spell that. What the heck, Change it out before you start it back up. yes when running keep it out of bright light. I have never had that problem .I don't cover it but it only get room light.
