this is a bad story , good story ! i was at the l.f.s. on friday when he as me if i wanted this purple tang that someone had brought in . it has l.l.e. and the mouth was pretty banged up ( we assumed it was kept in a tank way to small ) . i was alittle hesitant since i already have a yellow tang thats been with me for over three years now , but the price was right (free) and i felt he wouldn't have even asked me if he didn't feel i could give it a good home so i took him home . well after alittle postering from the yellow tang the first day they seem to get along pretty good !

Great looking tank!

Sorry to hear about all the trouble, do you have any idea what is going on, or what could have caused some of those problems? Were the acro/stylo that RTN'ed new? Or had they been in the system a while?

What were the symptoms on the Clam?

Glad your corals are growing back!

I really like your idea on the trim, I am going to have to copy that.

thanks everyone !
wisk ,the pieces were not new i think alot of the troubles with the corals stemmed from the tank switch out ! i had to cram lots of the corals into the rubbermaid tubs and they sat there with nothing but a small p.h. for over 6 hrs , so since most of the problems seemed to occour after that i think it was just a matter of chemical warfare in the tubs . as far as the clams the only things that seem to stand out are 1. both clams for a couple of days exhibited what i would call a bloated mantle with no mantle extension over the edges of the shell . it seem with in a couple of days of being like this they soon perished. i watched the fish to make sure that they were not picking of them and checked them for snails and could not see either . the only other thing they had in common was that they both sat on the bottom of the tank , but i also have the big squamy and two maximas down there also and they seem o.k. ! so i dunno ! i guess this is the not so fun part of reef keeping !

I had the same problem when replacing my LR a while back, I took everything and put it in a 10G tub with a Power head for a few hours, put everything back in, then a day or two later lost a couple frags to RTN.

I wish I knew what to tell you on the clams, but nothing really jumps to mind.

Beautifull fish and corals! Maybe you can give the purple tang some extra vitamins to let the erosion heal faster...

Tank looks really nice! Looks very classy. Sorry to hear about the losses, it's really a bummer when you have something for a long time and lose it, I guess its part of the game as we all seem to go through it, so it seems. On the upside, the other corals look great, and the purple tang being given by that LFS has gotta make you feel pretty **** good! I like the monti for the BB, that's gonna look really nice!
