180 build starts out on a sour note

went to drop the tank of at the glass shop today . mind you i called them yesterday to make sure on the pricing and everything , well my wife (who weights all of 110# s ) helps get it loaded , get there bring the truck around the back to unload it , then the guy ( whom has done atleast 6 tanks in the past for me ) takes a look and tells me hes not gonna do it . i told him i don't need it back for awhile thinking that maybe it was a time frame thing , but he just said i don't have the room for it and he walked away ! i don't give a crap if this guy is having a bad day or what but that is not customer service ! the least he could have said was " i'd like to help you out but were so backed up i don't think i can get to it " but to just walk away ! needless to say they lost a 10 year customer for life ! o.k. done ranting ! its time i just drill it myself .

That is crazy.

But how about doing it yourself? you can buy the drills on e-bay and use any power drill.

Was the guy who treated you that way also the owner?

If not, I think a call is in order.

Man that's ruff! I agree, drill it yourself (once you make sure it is not tempered). I have drilled most of my tanks, I did it with a dremel but I think the real hole saw would be a better move.

Do wear saftey glasses, use a leather motorcycle jacket if you have one, and leather gontlet gloves. I have tried to drill a tempered tank before and it went BOOM!!! Now I protect my uper torso when ever I drill. If that tank had been more than a 10 gallon the glass might have left the frame.

I agree diy. I put 6 holes in my 210. The thicker the glass the easier it is to drill. Just dont let it bind up when its breaking through. Thats how they get broke most of the time.
