120 gal one skimmer or two


I am setting up a 120 BB would you use one Octopus NW-200 or two. I am thinking of one on each return. I could clean on oposite weeks.

I think that skimmer is rated for at LEAST that size...If you were to buy two, why not just spend the money and buy one larger one?

I already own Two of them. I will use both on 120 or save one for future tank.

I think the rating i sthe MAXIMUM size. Id run as many as you can. If you can fit 2, use 2. The more you skim, the better IMO.

What I meant was the skimmer could at least work on the 120 gallon...it's rated for 200 gallons if i'm not mistaken. Sorry if that was worded wrong

I'm confussed on the " I am thinking of one on each return" part... Otherwise you will see that one skimmer generally pulls out more than the other. I've never been certain why this happens, but I feel that it has to do with the intake positioning. I have always and still recommend that when using two skimmers on the same system, to switch up the styles. Such as one NW recirc and then a beckett. Since skimmers skim differently, this makes the most out of the using two skimmers theory
