Question

Ugly brown coral algea

I've had my tank set up for several months and I have a whole bunch of these brown things with tantacles growing all over the place. I've heard they can sting my fish and hurt my other corals. I've been holding off putting in new corals as I don't want to loose them. How do I get rid of these things. They schrivel up and hide when I try to pull them out. Please Help!!! I'm including a couple of pictures.
Thanks!
