Scorpions and spraying for bugs

My husband and I are moving to Scottsdale in January. I'm actually in Scottsdale right now. The apartment I found that I like is kind of on the outskirts of the city so they have a bit of a scorpion issue. They spray for bugs I think once a month. Is this going to be a toxic to a tank? How do I protect the tanks while they're spraying?

On a side note does anyone know how dangerous scorpions are to dogs?

Welcome to scottsdale

When the exterminator is scheduled to come just cover the tank with a couple of towels or tarps that should do just fine. IF it is a larger dog it shouldnt be a problem. Just keep on eye on the dog and make sure it doesnt twitch or act lethargic. WELCOME TO SCOTTSDALE!!

Welcome to sunny Arizona!

I bougth a house near a big desert area about 2-3 months a go and we are fumigating for bugs, but we have not seen any scorpions here in Yuma, just ants, some other bug I don't know its name. Just keep an eye on your shoes, I have not seen it before but the exterminator guy said to shake your shoes before you put them on; I never do it since I don't ever remember; maybe if we ever find one in our shoes will start doing it.

We have seen rabits, foxes, roadrunners and something like a prairy dog.

thanx for the replies guys! We actually have 2 dogs. The big one I'm not worried about so much but the little one is only 10 lbs? Do you think a sting could be fatal for her?

Tarps are a great idea. How much time after each spray do you think I should leave the tarps on for?

I am sorry Sara, I forgot to check back on this thread.

You know the guy that does our home actually does not spray out in the open, just the baseboard and some corners under the sinks and bathrooms, I think if you cover the tank for a couple of hours should be fine. Be carefull that the tarps are not flamable or better yet turn the MH off.
