Hello, welcome to TRT. I think you should read some threads you will find that opinions my differ but there are several basic things to keep in mind with Reef Tanks : 1 skimmer is VERY import so find out as much as you can about what skimmer u have and what GPH pump it has. 2 MH's get very hot you want to make sure you have the heat under control no more then 3 deg. per 24hr cycle. 3 Live Rock is the best filter so get at least 1.5 pounds per Gal. of water. 4 Let the Tank cycle for at least 40 days no fish or coral (That means you)lol. 5 flow is a big help find out what type corals you will keep and that will help you decide how much flow you will need. But the best advice is read read and read some more.

Have fun with the hobbie . Buy the way TRT community is the best you will get help from many good people here.
