Up to no good,,,
Na, too old fer that anymore LOL.
I saw Tony (Asher) yesterday at his work and we chatted for a while, he prodded me to get the 75 back up to running state, and also hinted about getting the basement done (and tanks upsized). Tony, after i left talking to you, i''ll have you know i was at the book aisle and checking out the "how to finish basements" books LOL (Don't really need a book , but it woulda been funny to get Tony's attention and hold up a how to book on basements . )
Both tanks are just idling now, i need to get off my behind and jumpstart them both so i don't have bare/dark tanks to stare at during the winter season .
Just been a non productive summer for me, kinda bummed and ain't got any ambition. Prob related to my back n bod acting up on me. Goin to a new doctor /surgeon inna few weeks, and gonna see about having something done to relieve the latest pains i got, that should get me back in the mood i hope.No plans for more spinal fusion(at least right now, tho it's been said i'm in need of it) just hoping to have something done to hold off permanent stuff like that.

Like other reefers/clubs , things will prob pick up when the temps go down, and everyone starts spending more time inside.

Jeff, FYI I make all those spinal implants
Well not all of them, but some of them
Talk to your Doc about motion preservation plates. much better than the fusion

Cool! THanks for the insight/info
The wife's a ER nurse and pretty much in the know on a lotta stuff in that area. (Hence her choice for this new Doc/Surgeon) Nothing wrong with my doc that did my fusion , or the fusion per se (that part is done, no way pain etc can come from the fusion) it's just that now the vert above the fusion is doing all the bending /wear and tear down low, so of course it went "bad" all that much sooner.
I was told my fusion was pretty much the only way to go, things had gone to far to be a candidate for anything else.
Final straw for getting the fusion was i was getting nerve damage from the discs being gone and starting to affect my legs etc (leg goes "out" and i go down the stairs/fall off ladders . NOT the kinda thing a industrial electrician needs to have happen 150 ft off the ground on a crane or something
I'll see what this doc ends up telling me, and let ya know

Well I'm not a super active member of NIMAS anymore, but I still patrol these boards since I left for college. I spent this summer working as a Lab Technician in the Aquatic Ecology lab under Dr. Reuben Goforth here at Purdue. Most of the work we did this summer, and continue to do now, involves sampling the population of Shovelnose Sturgeon here in the Wabash River. We used an electrofishing boat to shock them and netted them out of the water into the boat. Once on the boat we recorded length, weight and tag number (if they had a tag), and tagged fish that didn't have tags. It was neat to see the change from May, during the spawn, when we were pulling out 300-350 fish per day all the way down until now where we're lucky to even see 3 or 4 fish per day. Bear in mind, this is just Shovelnose Sturgeon. We still see A LOT of invasive asian carp and other native species.
So that was my summer. We also did a few weeks on Lake Huron, but that was just benthic and plankton sampling which wasn't too thrilling lol. Now I'm busy here working on all my homework. Hopefully 3 years from now I'll be done with Purdue and busy either with a job or at grad school. Right now my main concern is graduation in 2011 lol.

The summer months are kind of the reefing doldrums. Like everyone else I have been busy doing outdoor stuff. The tank is kind of on autopilot. As the temps drop and I am stuck inside I am sure that I will be much more focused on the tank.

I guess since I have been working on the 125 build I have been more "Reef focused"
I get on the boards a few times a day....

As a matter of fact, yes, I've been shocked before. When we do small streams we use a backpack generator that shocks the water, and if you forget it's shocking and reach in you'll get quite a little jolt. It feels about like getting shocked by your house.
The boat shocker is a different story. It puts out a LOT more power. We use dipnets that have handles called "fire sticks". It's what electricians use when working with high voltage stuff (or so I'm told). The end of the net that goes in the water is metal, however, and I've been shocked by accidentally touching the metal on that part when it's in the water. That HURTS. It made my arm hurt for an afternoon. You really don't want to get careless when you're electrofishing. It's not a fun time getting shocked lol.
And I wholeheartedly agree with your last statements.
Boiler UP!!
