tds meter

I was in walmart the other day and they had tds meters in the automotive section by where the rv stuff is. They were only like 12 or so dollars does any one know if these are any good?

You can buy calibration fluid. Or compare it against someone else's meter. If the numbers are the same or pretty close you are probably ok.

Thanks for the heads up. Walmart is going to wonder why the sudden run on TDS meters.
I tested the Martin's Supermarket RO water I've been using & got a 6.
I'm assuming that's not too bad???

I'd be happy with 6. The accuracy of the TDS meter means the water is anywhere from 16 to 0 anyways, IMO.
I'm always worried that I get some residue from the glass I measure from--I don't know how reasonable this is though...

Here are my readings it's amazing how well a RO/DI can clean the water...

City tap water 500+ tds
After softener 240
After RO 45
After DI 5
Unit is 1 year old. never changed membrane or pre-filters yet. It's a 5 stage unit. I'm guessing I go thru about 150g a month so I have made close to 2000 gallons and am still going strong...

I have color changing DI resin and it was TOTALLY BLACK!! s/b kinda orange.

Luckily I had some on hand changed it and now i'm back to ZERO TDS!!!

I've been using the self service RO machine. I was glad to see that it tested as low as it did. That thing gets a ton of use, & has to produce a lot of water fast.
The water I tested was from early in July (they service the machine in the first week of every month). I wonder how it will test late in the month.
