Slug? Please help ID

I am thinking this is some kind of slug, but I wasnt able to find any info on this guy. He was a hitch hiker on some live rock years ago and started out about 1/12th of the size he is now. The white line that runs down his back comes and goes. Sometimes he is completely all black, and then later on in the day, there will be a white line running down. He hasnt been eating any corals that I know of so far. Just seeing if anyone had a positive ID on the little guy.

Very cool!
I had one of those. I used to see it every once in a while. It must be gone, I have not seen it in a long time.
Never did find an exact name for it.
I think the white line on it's back is a partial shell showing that is usually covered.

Looks like a scutus species snail. From my quick search, they seem to be reef safe.

Probably call it an elephant slug because of it's size. 12 cm...wow!
