Pet Peeve/Courtesy
*Begin rant*
This thread is not meant to accuse anyone. In fact, I don't know of any people on this forum that are guilty of this. If you feel guilty, maybe you're a culprit.
I have worked at 2 different LFS's now. There is one thing that customers do that bothers me more than anything else. If you see a dead fish in a tank, politely and quietly let an employee know. It ticks me off more than anything when a customer thinks they're God of the pet store because they found a dead fish in a tank and they proudly announce it to an employee/spouse/friend so loudly that the entire store can hear. Every morning we go through the tanks and pull out dead fish but sometimes we may miss one. It happens. This does not mean that its a crappy LFS or that the tanks are in horrible condition. Many times there are extenuating circumstances involved with the fish's dead.
If you notice a fish dead in a tank at a LFS, pull an employee aside and quietly say, "I noticed a dead fish in that tank. It'd probably be a good idea to get it out before someone notices and wrongly accuses the store of mistreatment." If there is blatant mistreatment on behalf of the store, QUIETLY inform the employee, do not announce it to everyone. Not only does it discourage other customers in the store from making purchases, but they go home and tell someone who tells someone else, who tells someone else, who tells someone else.... you get the picture.
Please. I'm not asking for much, just some common courtesy.
*End rant*
