New Frag Tank

I am making the 50g rubbermaid tub I got off of Jaime into a frag tank plummed into the 90. I am making the 90 drain into one side of the frag tank and the frag tank into the sump under the 90 where all the equipment is. The lights should be here Mon. I ran out of PVC and can't get any until after I see I Am Legend. Ooh ooh I am going to pick up a frag of some green cap as soon as the wife gets home from work.

someone is excited! Very cool. The extra water volume in your sytem will keep things nice and stable overall.

Just plan for a power outage situation and that your sump can handle water possibly from the sump in addition to waterver normally siphons back from your tank. Otherwise you may have a situation where the sump cannot handle the volume when the return pump is not running.

I'm going to be plumbing the 20g to my 75g and it's sump w/ ATO. I wanted independent systems but going on extended trips away from homes creates problems with topoff on the 20 b/c there is no ATO there.

Be sure to post some pictures when you get it finished. I see a small frag tank in my future and I am always looking for ideas.

Sure will. I have to make a couple mods to it. I miscalculated the heighth of the frag tank to the heighth of the tank. So I will have to make the frag tank drain into the 90 and the 90 still to the sump. Anyone short will have to use a step stool to see in my frag tank. Or I'll have to figure something else out.

As my other posts stated I finished it except for the lights. I didn't change it from the original plan. I just had to change what was holding the frag tank. It was a metal work table that I bought but now it is a huge metal desk that I was no longer using.

No in the garage. The tubs range from 50~200 I think. My wife would be crazy to let me set this up in the living room.

I think I am going to have a couple fish in the frag tank until the neighbor get his tank all cleaned up and ready to go. He has a clown, file fish, and a chalk bass. He must have spent well over $500 in corals and lost them all due to not listening to what I was telling him. He has pc's (only 2 55w bulbs) and a sea clone skimmer. Granted that is what I started with but I did not try to keep corals that needed a lot of light. I tried to tell him what he could try to get but to no avail. All he has left are the fish and a small colony of yellow zoanthids. He also tried stocking the heck out of the tank with fish(55g).
